Vintage Mego 10: Action Jackson Adventure Set
Vintage Mego takes a look at an empty box but WHAT an empty box, this is the only surviving sample of the Action Jackson Adventure set, a lost item from 1974.
How did this sample survive Toyfair 1974? Well, that’s an interesting story and we discuss this amazing find.

Action Jackson is Back(tion)
Some good news for Megoheads, especially attendees of Mego Meet next week. Action Jackson, mego’s first 8 incher will be reborn via Cast-A-Way Toys, here’s what David Lee posted at the Mego Museum Forum:
Yes Action Jackson (Mr. Jackson if your nasty), will be at Mego Meet and exclusively at the 8 inch Superstore (maybe shortly after). This is a limited edition throw back version, the all new AJ and Team A.C.T.I.O.N (Anti Crime Terror International Operations Network) will follow. I will be giving all the details at Mego Meet, so stop by my presentation to hear all about it
Alex- The throwback version will feature upgraded arms and legs, snap on boots and (Pics soon) will have a classic M16, a .45 and a knife.

The Adventurer was a blow molded (ie cheap) doll and outfit set that shared a lot of parts with Mego’s Action Jackson (many of the outfits are identical and bear the Mego trademark) and then some of the outfits got really whacky, making us wonder what was meant by “adventure”. More after the jump:
Custom: Action Jackson 2014
If you’re bummed that the Zica/Cast A Way Action Jackson line has been postponed, the ever resourceful Paul from LaserMego has a recipe to better your mood.
Cancelled Lines: Playing Mantis Action Jackson Wave 3
I swear that I was the only guy who liked this line when it was available and I still stand by how fun it was. The Playing Mantis reboot of Action Jackson proposed third wave of figures would have included an Animal Wrangler (complete with rubber snakes), a parachutist (that worked) and a WW2 soldier and FRIGGING JEEP!
Sadly, it was all for naught, PM closed it’s doors not long after. The wonderful woman who ran their message boards gave me the AJ catalog for all of this but it’s lost to bottomless pit that is my filing cabinet….
Weep with me!
