1976 Action Figure Explosion!

1976 Action Figure Explosion!

1976 Action Figure Explosion!

I got this catalogue just after Christmas, and I wanted to close the year with the single reason I had to have it. This glorious page of plastic joy.  I never saw this page as a kid, but wow, that’s how the inside of my brain looked when I was five.

This page, with it’s triple threat of Kenner Bionic Man, GI Joe Adventure Team, and Big Jim’s P.A.C.K hit me like a gut punch but in a good way, more like a “gut hug?” is that a thing?

I enjoyed the book even more when I found the other page with my sixth birthday present, the GI Joe Capture Copter, which also was the “Monster Squad Copter” with my Lincoln Monsters

Not to mention the Sky Dive to Danger set, another birthday present and my vote for the single greatest GI Joe set ever.

1976 Action Figure Explosion!

1976 Action Figure Explosion!

No Offense to fans of Johnny West but I have almost no memory of the toy line. It’s probably because of stuff like Remco Star Trek and the amazing Lazervette had all of my attention and well kind of still do….

Happy New Year!

Pod Stallions 116: Burger King Onion Ring Fireside Chat

We’re not ones to dwell on the passage of time (and let’s face it, no one wants that shock to the system) but it IS hard to believe that it’s now been 60 years since two schoolteachers went to that junkyard for the trip of a lifetime, and Doctor Who began. Luckily, according to the Doctor, time is immaterial. But let’s throw caution to the wind and have a jumbo-sized PS episode celebrating Adventures Through Time and Space. It’s safe to say DW is embraced and referenced more by us than any other topic, and it’s been a long, strange journey. Reverse the polarity, Sonics at the ready, Allons-y!

Pod Stallions 116: Burger King Onion Ring Fireside Chat

If we Letterboxed our viewing habits in 2023, we’re estimating between us we’ve spent close to one full month (maybe one with 28 days) watching everything from TV series to movies, highbrow to lowbrow and all points in between. We thought it’d be fun to wind 2023 down by recommending titles to the most discerning listeners in podcastville. So it’s another fine episode of ‘What We’ve Been Watching!’ on Pod Stallions. Hope it helps!

70s Superhero toys in Japanese Starlog – Mego, Remco, AHI and More!

I recently stumbled across this fantastic issue of Japanese Starlog, which was a lot like the US version, except its graphic design was way more exciting.
This particular issue has a feature on all the imported Superhero toys from the US you can buy. So the best way to describe it is like a Heroes World catalogue but from the future.

Megolike: Medicom RAH figures

riderman

Still working on resurrecting Megolike.com (although the facebook page is still up and running) in the meantime, here’s another line of modern figures that rocked out world. Slightly taller (at ten inches but then Mego made a few of those too) the Medicom RAH figures were gorgeous and flipping pricey back in the day. Now? I’m picking them up for $20 a piece. Above is Riderman from the Kamen Rider television series. More after the jump!
