Mego Planet of the Apes Soldier (Mint Off Card Review)

Mego Museum Mint Off Card has returned TO THE PLANET OF THE APES! This week we look at the Soldier, the latest Mego takes on a classic apes figure. It’s a new take on an old favourite but haven’t we seen that head before? We also talk about variations in the line. Let’s go to the forbidden zone together!

Mego Planet of the Apes General Ursus added to Mego Museum

General Ursus joins Caesar in Mego’s wave 13 assortment of characters. Technically Ursus was a figure in the classic Mego Planet of the Apes but this is not exactly a straight reproduction of that figure. Mego took the classic Ursus/Urko (More on that debacle in the classic Mego Planet of the Apes galleries) and added paints and details to make the figure match James Gregory’s Ursus from “Beneath the Planet of the Apes”.

Toy-Ventures: AHI Action Apeman

Clearly inspired by the Mego Planet of the Apes action figures, the AHI Action Apeman are some of the boldest knock offs ever produced, I’ll explain why I think that in this video.

Toy-Ventures: Space Apes : Planet of the Apes Knockoffs?

After a long break, I have another wonderful mystery box of Knock-Offs from the United Kingdom, this week we’re going to meet The Space Apes, a series of action figures that seem to resemble the Mego Planet of the Apes figures but with some noticeable differences.

We’re publishing a Toy-Ventures Magazine this Summer, here’s a link on how to be kept in the loop:

Vintage Mego: The Lost Continent (Action Jackson or Planet of the Apes?)

Vintage Mego takes a look this week at the 1974 Mego Playset “The Lost Continent” which is available in both Action Jackson branded packaging and one that states it’s for the Mego Planet of the Apes figures. Which one is it? We reveal our theory as to why this may have happened.

Vintage Mego: Planet of the Apes Fortress

This week’s Vintage Mego puts together the giant Mego Planet of the Apes Fortress Playset from 1975 and lets you get a good look at what’s inside.

We also talk about the sales numbers for the Mego Planet of the Apes range and discover that Apes were very popular even after the TV had come and gone.

Star Warriors or Mego Black Hole? You Decide

Time to open another box of knock-off figures and these dudes are my new favorites. This line hedges all bets by crossing Star Wars with the Black Hole and Star Trek into a delicious stew of unlicensed hilarity!
