This fellow arrived last week; it was an eBay auction spotted by my friend Rob Turner. Not only is he the product of Lincoln International (my favourite producer of Mego Knock-Offs), but he’s also a total mystery!
He’s the exact figure Lincoln produced under the “Thrill Seekers” name, a Mego Action Jackson KO. However, there is one slight problem: the Thrillseekers packaging doesn’t mention a cowboy outfit.
BTW the boots are the same as another Lincoln masterpiece, the infamous Mr. Rock!
So either there are more undiscovered Thrill Seekers out there, or there is possibly another Lincoln line we don’t know about, or some kid put this outfit on his Thrill Seeker figure. I hope it’s not the last one but it’s entirely possible. Mystery figures are the spice of this hobby to me, and I can’t wait to see what’s next. If anybody has any insight, please let me know. Of course, this came from the UK, which seems to have a special relationship with Lincoln.

Somewhere, I have a cowboy hat and a pistol for this hombre…

Issue 12 Toy-Ventures magazine delves deep into a toy that, sadly, never was. Prank ‘N Stein was a 90s toy concept by Canada’s Irwin Toys that would have rivalled Kenner’s Hugo Man of a Thousand Faces in our monster kid hearts.
Issue 12 of Toy-Ventures magazine is now up for pre-order. Issue 12 is a celebration of Stretch Monster featuring a deluxe gatefold cover by Mr. Peter Carsillo (Cover artist for Issue).

ABOUT LINCOLN MONSTERS A vintage toy brand is rising from the grave! “Lincoln Monsters” is a new collaboration from White Elephant Toyz, Absolutely Retro and Plaid Stallions, who have joined forces to make dimestore retro monsters. The name is inspired by the legendary knock-off toy company Lincoln International. However, Lincoln Monsters reimagines the company as a 70s third-rate film studio, making exploitation and copying horror trends. Each Lincoln Monster release and creation will center around a fictional movie from Lincoln International Studios, premiering with The Evil of Count Dracula.
The 8″ Evil of Count Dracula figure will be on a type S body, with a look inspired by the past but retaining the LM house style.
Each Lincoln Monsters figure will come in a gorgeous solid box with artwork by Chris Franklin depicting the gorey poster for the movie made to cash in on Hammer horror. Like all good horror shows, this is a double bill as Lincoln Monsters will also release “The Power of Frankenstein,” featuring a stunning poster by Chris Franklin. “Our goal is to create well-made figures inspired by cheap knock-offs,” explains White Elephant Toyz Jason Schiermeyer who adds, “At a collector-friendly price point.” Subsequent releases from Lincoln Monsters will include original male and female character designs that cross multiple film genres from Science Fiction, Horror and Exploitation. The fictional Lincoln studio was known to dabble in Gothic Horror, Ozsplotation, Philippine Drive-In movies and Italian rip-offs.

Hey folks, if you didn’t catch my Livestream this Saturday, I’m doing my follow-up to Rack Toys with a book I’ve titled Knock-Offs: Totally Unauthorized Action Figures. This is a piece I’ve been working on since 2012 but stuff got in the way and I had to put it on hold. I’m glad I did because it just made the whole thing better.
Knock-Offs is a celebration of the dimestore bootleg figure, the copyright-infringing silliness meant to fool our grandpeople. The subjects range from toys of the 1960’s to the 2000s and include every popular genre you can think of.
Knock-Offs Book
Knock-Offs Book- Nightmare Feddy
Chapters will include Superheroes, Science Fiction, Horror, TV/Movies and you’d better believe 80s toys. So many discount Darth Vaders and Skid Row Skeletors…
Knock-Offs Book- Robocops
Knock-Offs will also celebrate the amazing bootleg toy art scene and I have to say, the work these folks create is pretty darn infectious.

To celebrate the second printing of my book “Rack Toys: Cheap, Crazed Playthings” (Coming September 10th) I’m going to do a count down of my absolute favourite dime store toys. From screen accurate Space:1999 stun guns to a pistol-packing Spider-Man, it’s a fun group of toys you probably forgot you had!

Clearly inspired by the Mego Planet of the Apes action figures, the AHI Action Apeman are some of the boldest knock offs ever produced, I’ll explain why I think that in this video.

After a long break, I have another wonderful mystery box of Knock-Offs from the United Kingdom, this week we’re going to meet The Space Apes, a series of action figures that seem to resemble the Mego Planet of the Apes figures but with some noticeable differences.
