Vintage Mego: The Waltons

Yeah, I’m doing the Waltons episode, even though I don’t collect the toyline or enjoy the show itself, let’s defend Mego’s decision to make a Waltons toy line in 1975. PS the Sunshine Family legit scared me as a kid.

Megolike: Medicom RAH figures

riderman

Still working on resurrecting Megolike.com (although the facebook page is still up and running) in the meantime, here’s another line of modern figures that rocked out world. Slightly taller (at ten inches but then Mego made a few of those too) the Medicom RAH figures were gorgeous and flipping pricey back in the day. Now? I’m picking them up for $20 a piece. Above is Riderman from the Kamen Rider television series. More after the jump!

Figures Toy Company puts Monkee on my back

Mego Museum broke the news today that three sets of 8 inch and one set of 12 inch action figures of the Monkees are now up for grabs.

I was planning on passing but GAAAAHHHH they look fantastic and well, this was my favourite after school show in 1976 (prime mego buying years) so the little kid inside of me wants these and he won’t shut up about it.

We’re finally getting the Riddler in a bowler hat

EC RIDDLER (9) (1)

The MegoMuseum broke the news yesterday about this Emerald City Comic’s exclusive Riddler figure from the 1966 Batman series. Unlike past exclusive Figures Toy Company items,  ECC went all out and had a new head sculpted and it’s pretty damned righteous.

Bam! without warning this week Figures Toy Company announced Dukes of Hazzard wave 2 by showing off the figures and taking pre-orders which had a lot of fans really excited. I’m by no means a Dukes fan but I can understand how cool it is to get the anicliary characters.

Mego: The Love Boat Playset

loveboat

Yup, it got made.

MegoMuseum posted this today on their twitter and well, it’s the same sort of Styrene masterpiece that the Enterprise Bridge was. It was released by Grand Toys in Canada mainly because they paid up front for their stuff, here is a boxed version (also from the MegoMuseum)

xlove

There are actually two Love Boat playsets and they look so alike that they cause confusion, this I believe is made by multiple toys and features smaller scale figures of the crew and passengers. From what I gather it’s hella rare too.
