Hello folks, the day has come; pre-orders are now open for the officially licensed Tura Satana action figure!

White Elephant Toyz and Odeon present the first officially licensed action figure of Tura Satana.

This limited edition action figure is 8″ tall and features a detailed outfit, natural hair, motorcycle gloves, and boots. Tura is ready to kick your other action figures’ asses.

Each Tura Satana Action figure comes in vintage style packaging with striking artwork by Joseph Michael Linsner, creator of “Dawn.”

You have two options to get her below, as this was a co-production.

Toy-Ventures Magazine Issue 10

Issue 10 starts with a stunning piece of art by Peter Carsillo, who told me he’d do a Pulsar cover ages ago should the need arise. So when I reached out, we began to explore concepts. When the idea of a movie poster came up, I mentioned “Infra-Man” probably because I was staring at it while messaging him.

Just from that, Peter crafted a Basil Gogos-inspired movie poster for a Pulsar movie that, sadly I cannot watch. I also want to point out that I will get that movie made or die trying.

My favourite thing about this is the “Pulsar Universe” Peter brought to life here. A bevy of beauties, a fleet of vehicles but also adding the ironic twist that they all are repurposed from other Mattel toylines. That is…Chef’s Kiss toy satire, and I love it. There are a couple of other toy easter eggs in there that I will leave for you to find them all.

As follow-up to our video about bootleg V items (see it here) I took some photos of the Italian Visitor figure I recently picked up. I have to tell you that it’s one of my favourite additions in a while. That is mainly because my V collection is somewhat small.

Unlike many bootleg/knock-off toys, this isn’t repurposed. This company sculpted this specifically for this purpose, and it is really well done. It looks like how a Visitor would be depicted on a book cover or misleading poster.

Help Rescue Palitoy’s Lost TV Toy Commercials

The Palitoy collecting community has a very unique opportunity to come together and help rescue more than 100 lost Palitoy television advertisements.

Currently there is an Action Man enthusiast who is in possession of 3 rolls of original 35mm film prints that contain 103 Palitoy TV adverts from the 1970s and these advertisements feature many popular vintage Palitoy brands such as Action Man, Pippa and Friends, Playdoh, Star Wars, Pocketeers, Tiny Tears, Ricochet Racers, Mego Star Trek, Mego Planet of the Apes, Mego Commander Power, Baby Alive and Little Big Man to name but a few.

While this library of commercials does include many advertisements that are already available on the internet (albeit in much lower quality) there are also numerous TV adverts that have not been made available digitally since they were first aired on British television in the 1970s.

When the owner of these film prints took possession of them a number a years ago they had them professionally cleaned up and digitally scanned at a 2k quality by a professional studio and they paid for this service out of their own pocket. This person is now offering these adverts to the wider community but they understandably need to recoup some of their original investment.

Our aim is to secure these original film prints and the 2K quality digital transfers but first we need to reach our £5,000 funding goal (AUD$9,500 – USD$6,500).

If our funding goal is reached by 12pm GMT on the 24th June 2023, the current owner of these adverts will hand over the original film prints to former Palitoy Chief Toy Designer Bob Brechin who will then donate them to the Coalville Heritage Society and the 2K quality digital scans will be uploaded to a non-monetised YouTube channel for the whole Palitoy collecting community to enjoy.

You have a terrific opportunity here to help rescue a valuable piece of Palitoy history and all sponsors that donate £100 or more will have their name credited on a title card that will appear at the end of each Palitoy TV advertisement when it is uploaded to YouTube.

So let’s band together, raise the funds required to secure these original television advertisements and help preserve the history of Palitoy.

GI Joe Adventure Team Photo Recon

As mentioned in the latest episode of Toy-Ventures (which has a contest BTW) , I recently picked up this wonder GI Joe Adventure Team piece. I collect GI Joe but am what they call “Content.” I haven’t actively searched eBay in ages, and while I always keep my eyes open, I really didn’t have any wants. Then theecollector found a bunch of Canadian GI Joe outfits and sets.

 This one haunted me despite avoiding collecting carded outfits for money and space reasons. It was the combination of the 76 era card back with that funky orange and the fact that I realized I HAD THIS AS A KID! I kind of wasn’t in control; I just purchased it. The brain was going, “WTH?” but the heart knew what it was doing.

 I also really dig this illustration of Joe, what a badass. The artwork is huge for this because, without it,  it’s just a jumpsuit and a camera.

Mego Planet of the Apes Jail – Toy-Ventures magazine

Working on issue 10 of Toy-Ventures Magazine, and for no good reason, I thought it might be fun to try and recreate the artwork of the beautiful accessories boxes. I am something of an impulsive creature.

My first attempt is the Planet of the Apes Jail, a silly toy with an awesome box. I had a few limitations with this one, like the Jail on the box differs from the toy. Also, you can get only so much dynamic action from a type 1 Mego figure, but I got close enough to share.
