The Adventurer was a blow molded (ie cheap) doll and outfit set that shared a lot of parts with Mego’s Action Jackson (many of the outfits are identical and bear the Mego trademark) and then some of the outfits got really whacky, making us wonder what was meant by “adventure”. More after the jump:
Yeah so Megolike.com has been missing for a while and while they try and salvage it (the domain remains in good hands) I thought I’d post some photos from there to kind of tide things over. Here are some more recent figures by Cast-A-Way toys, the boys made nice stuff, had a strong following and got screwed over royally by an unscrupulous third party who essentially stole their molds.
If you have some of the stuff I don’t email me and I’ll add it to this page.
Achmed was the Phantom’s nemesis (he doesn’t exactly have a Batman’s rogue gallery does he?)
From Issue 25, September 1999 (still credited to the ToyFare Staff) we have “Megoville Squares” when they could still riff on the DC characters a little. I guess this mail away Lady Death offer has probably expired?
The sales this season at EE have made me a little tired but that doesn’t change the fact that they’re giving some great deals on Bif Bang Pow figures from Twilight Zone, Dexter, Penny Dreadful and the Six Million Dollar man right now. A totally different assortment from the previous two sales.
From issue #5 (January 1998) “Scream” is written by Toyfare staff (no credits yet). I’m going to add one of these a week for the rest of the year, so be sure to book mark us. To see previous posts, click the “Twisted Mego Theatre” tag at the bottom of this post. More after the Jump….
Been late to the game but the Mego Museum has the scoop on the New Teen Titans Cyborg and Nightwing. While the praise is pretty unanimous for Cyborg, fans are mixed on the open mouth look of Nightwing. Put me in the “Like” camp on that one but to each their own.
The MegoMuseum broke the news yesterday about this Emerald City Comic’s exclusive Riddler figure from the 1966 Batman series. Unlike past exclusive Figures Toy Company items, ECC went all out and had a new head sculpted and it’s pretty damned righteous.
